Arrowpoint Capital's Ronald Mazariegos Speaks at Two Law Student Conferences
Ronald Mazariegos, a claim litigation strategy manager with Arrowpoint Capital, was a guest speaker recently at two law student conferences in North Carolina.
In January, he was a panelist on the North Carolina Bar Association’s Law Student Mentoring Conference, co-sponsored by the Hispanic National Bar Association. This month, he spoke to the American Bar Association 4th Circuit Law Student Division Annual Spring Meeting.
Law Student Mentoring Conference
At the NC Bar Association conference in Cary, NC, Ron was on a panel focusing on “The Importance of Networking and Mentoring.” He spoke about the importance of networking to finding jobs and internships, as well as the role a mentor can play both in and outside of one’s career.
Other panelists were Clayton Morgan, assistant general counsel for Progress Energy; Hada Haulsee, partner at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP; and Julie Beaver, director of career development at Campbell University’s School of Law.
ABA 4th Circuit Law Student Meeting
At the ABA Meeting, Ron participated on a panel entitled “Alternative Legal Careers.” He spoke about his position with Arrowpoint Capital, and his prior career as a practicing attorney.
"Interestingly, very few of the students had ever considered a legal career with an insurance carrier,” he noted. “After the presentation, several said they will probably apply for positions in the claims or legal departments of insurance companies.” The meeting, held at Charlotte School of Law, was attended by approximately 100 students from all over the 4th Circuit – North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
