Julie Fortune Participates in Historic Chief Claims Officer Summit
Arrowpoint Chief Claims Officer Julie Fortune was one of the participants at the recent Chief Claims Officer Summit in New York – the first time Chief Claims Officers from more than 35 of the industry’s top insurance companies have come together to discuss the current and future state of the claims industry.
The September summit was hosted by the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM). Julie is a CLM board member.
During the summit, executives discussed the talent crisis in the industry and how best to develop future industry leaders. Adam Potter, Executive Director of the CLM, announced the creation of the Claims College, which is being developed by more than 25 senior level insurance company and corporate professionals. The dual purpose of the Claims College is to provide a greater education experience and certification for current claims professionals while also attracting new talent to the claims industry.
According to Adam, “As companies have reduced their internal training resources, there has been a significant lack of good educational opportunities for claims professionals — both those new to the industry and those experienced professionals looking to expand their knowledge and further their careers. This has led to the industry’s ongoing talent crisis that will only grow more severe as experienced professionals retire. The CLM is facilitating the creation of the Claims College to help elevate the profession and provide educational opportunities for professionals of all experience levels.”
Julie is currently a professor at the Litigation Management Institute, a certification program also offered by the CLM at Columbia University.
The Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) promotes and furthers the highest standards of claims and litigation management and brings together the thought leaders in both industries. CLM’s Members and Fellows include risk and litigation managers, insurance and claims professionals, corporate counsel, outside counsel and third party vendors. The CLM sponsors educational programs, provides resources and fosters communication among all in the industry.
